A cool family home evening...and a special delivery.....

For family home evening, last night we went to help out at Dustin's Diner for those of you who Don't know what that is you can click on the link and check it out.... briefly ..it is a little booth set up in a neighborhood close by us that have amazing lights throughout..well every year at this time they sale hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and cookies for 1.00 each that you can drive through and buy as your looking at the Christmas lights... and all the earnings go to the homeless shelter here... A boy by the name of Dustin created it at 8 years old and 15 years later it is still up and running...Last night we had the pleasure of helping out with a few other families.. I was the money taker, Kam was the traffic controller, and Jayden,Tyler and Kala were the sellers.... It was such a humbling experience and I couldn't help but get a little teary eyed as we first started.. I loved watching my kids and hearing them shout " buy a cookie help the homeless" Dustin was actually there last night.. and it was neat to work by his side.... what an amazing person to have thought of this idea....it was neat because the news was there, and Jayden and Kala got to be on the news. At the end of the night we made 820.00 in just about 2 1/2 hours which is pretty good for a monday.... it goes on til the 23rd of December....as we were driving home I heard one of my children say " this was a cool family home evening... I'm so glad they took part in this great experience..... and actually enjoyed it... So about our special delivery.... On Sunday were all camping out in the front room and all of a sudden we get this loud knock on the door... that just about scared us.... we open the door.. and there is this beautiful cake with no one there delivering it.... it was just left on our doorstep... the kids were all excited.... since we already ate sweets, we decided to save it for after Family home evening.. so when we got home we decided to open it up and eat it... what a perfect treat to end a perfect night...

Nobody deserves that cake more than you. I loved reading about your home evening and what a wonderful thing to teach your children.
